God The Travel Agent

Shortly after being diagnosed with cancer, I made a list of things I wanted to do in the months ahead. Several things were of a serious and practical nature, and should really be done by everyone regardless of our health. Other items were “quality of life” items. Fun things. Unfulfilled dreams and desires. I’m happy to report that most items have already been realized and crossed off my list as of today. I’ve been a busy guy! Two items still remain: a cross-country trip on my Harley, and a Caribbean Cruise. (The cruise is scheduled for October!)

Early on, God gave me this scripture: “Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart.” (Psalm 37:4) And that’s exactly what He has done! In addition to His promises concerning my healing, He has given me a great quality of life for someone with Stage Four cancer. As I have said repeatedly, the cancer has not caused me much trouble, but the treatments are killing me!

Here’s a neat thing I have discovered about HOW God grants our desires. He does it with EXCELLENCE! Should we expect anything less? This weekend is a good example. After much prayer and trust in God, we decided to go ahead with our trip to Atlanta. We made it just fine, and have experienced no problems getting gasoline. One item on my “list” was to attend a Braves baseball game. Here is how God, the great Travel Agent, fulfilled my dream. He supplied free tickets through a friend’s corporation. Not just any tickets, mind you, but field level, directly behind the Braves dugout! Then He ordered special weather for us. A mild night, with a cooling breeze more resembling Fall than late Summer. Our hotel is a suite that comfortably sleeps the three of us, and was provided from “points” I had accumulated from my travels this past year!

What are you dreaming about? God is interested in your dreams! He wants to provide a great quality of life for you. But notice the scripture above: The granting of desires is for those who “Delight” in Him! What is your passion? Better yet, WHO is your passion? Make God the Number One passion of your life, and watch the blessings flow!
