Natural Disasters

Like many of you, I am watching with great interest the path of Hurricane Rita as she takes aim at the gulf coast this morning. It's hard to believe that yet another storm is poised to bring destruction and loss of life. I find myself breathing a prayer for Texas and Louisiana once again.

I was reading in Matthew this morning for my devotions. In Chapter 24, the disciples asked Jesus about the signs of his second coming. Among the things Jesus mentioned were natural disasters. Not just normal disasters, but significant ones. Isn't it interesting that in the past year we have experienced a tsunami, and two very active hurricane seasons with record breaking, powerful storms. Jesus said in verse 21, "then there will be great distress, unequaled from the beginning of the world until now, and never to be equaled again."

I'm not a brilliant scholar or theologian, and studying prophecy usually gives me a headache. But it seems to me that signs are pointing to the return of Christ. When? Only The Father knows for sure, but it could be very soon. How are you living life today? Are you ready for the return of Christ? Let's make whatever changes we need, and make sure our Number One priority is living to please God! Thanks for your prayers. Remember to pray for the people in TX & LA today. I love you!
