Peace in Times of Trial
I was reading in Acts this morning about Peter. He was in jail. Two verses stood out to me. "So Peter was kept in prison, but the church was earnestly praying to God for him. The night before Herod was to bring him to trial, Peter was sleeping!" (Acts 12:5-6)
That's a great example of peace in times of trial. Peter is in prison, on death row, and instead of being anxious, instead of being angry with God, he is sleeping! Only the peace that God gives can make that possible. How could Peter sleep in such a trying situation? He knew that the church was praying, and that God was ultimately in control of his life.
I was asked by a television reporter yesterday if I was mad at God because of my cancer. How can I be mad when I know that God has a perfect plan for my life, and I have the scripture promise that "all things work together for good" for God's people! The church is praying for me. YOU are praying for me! God has given me peace, and he has given me a Promise! I will not die from this illness! Therefore, I can "sleep" in the midst of this trial.
What are you facing today? Ask God for strength in your trial, then accept His peace in knowing that everything will work out according to His plan! I love you!

David said it all: I saw God before me for all time. Nothing can shake me; He's right by my side. I'm glad from the inside out, ecstatic; I've pitched my tent in the Land of Hope. I know You'll never dump me in Hades; I'll never even smell the stench of death. You've got my feet on the life-path, with Your face shining sun-joy all around.
