Devotionals for April
Hey friends & family,
Two ladies in the choir came up with a wonderful idea in preparation for our Easter musical. They asked the choir members to write a devotional which would be compiled for everyone in the Worship Ministry to read leading up to Easter. The devotions are based on songs from the musical and how they speak to us personally. Vicky asked last night at rehearsal if we'd be willing to post some of those for the next couple weeks. Therefore, we invite you along on this journey as we prepare our hearts for Easter, and our musical. Be sure to come enjoy the culmination of several months of musical practices, spiritual growth and likemindedness on Easter weekend! We're expecting great things!

I was sitting alone in Mike’s parents’ den on Christmas Eve afternoon. The “boys” were all out having a big time and Mike’s mom was at the store. I was flipping channels and stopped on a Christmas pageant when I noticed the words “God is working out His plan” being projected onto a scrim behind two soloists. I was moved to tears as the duet and choir began to sing. It was just what I needed to be reminded of...God has a plan...His plans are so much bigger than I can understand or imagine...and He is working out HIS plan!
It was a message I wanted our entire church family to hear! I watched the credits hoping to find out the name of the song. No luck. I didn’t know if someone in their church had written it or not, but I had to get my hands on that song! I went on line to the church’s website hoping to see information about their musical. No luck! I wrote down the church’s phone number with plans to contact them on Monday to find out more.
Little did I know that God was using the song in Janice’s life, too! When we got to church the next day, Janice had placed a Christmas CD on Mike’s desk with a note that there was a song on there that she thought we needed to do. Guess what song it was? “His Plan”! As it turns out, Carol Cymbala had written it and it had been recorded on the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir’s Christmas project. Isn’t God amazing!
That Christmas Sunday morning I had no idea what would lie ahead in the coming weeks. But I knew that God was in control. The simple phrase “God is working out His plan” began playing over and over in my mind, as God would remind me of His sovereignty in my life and in the life of the church. Can we trust Him and His plans for our lives and for our church? Of course we can! It’s a message everyone needs to hear...No matter what comes our way, God is working out His plan!

David said it all: I saw God before me for all time. Nothing can shake me; He's right by my side. I'm glad from the inside out, ecstatic; I've pitched my tent in the Land of Hope. I know You'll never dump me in Hades; I'll never even smell the stench of death. You've got my feet on the life-path, with Your face shining sun-joy all around.
