"...for I know the plans..."
...by Sherrie Hawkins for the choir devo book
“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord….” Jeremiah 29:11
In youth ministry that is our anthem, the promise we give to teenagers that God has everything under control. Graduation cards are filled with the verse as a send off from high school to the “real world.” We hear it so often it becomes almost cliché, but the song “His Plan” reminds us that this plan didn’t just start with us. He spared no expense, not even His Son to work out His plan for us. And especially now when “the world tries to stop Him and they say that Christ never came”, we need to be encouraged and spurred on that even though evil will try to be triumphant, we need only to hold fast for God is working out His plan. Let’s face it, a birth in a stable, shepherds, kings all coming to see a little baby. None of that makes sense, so in the most confusing of times, we can rest assured He is working out His plan.
Thank you, Lord for working all things out for my good, not just yesterday and today, but forevermore. Remind me of that when I start to question.

David said it all: I saw God before me for all time. Nothing can shake me; He's right by my side. I'm glad from the inside out, ecstatic; I've pitched my tent in the Land of Hope. I know You'll never dump me in Hades; I'll never even smell the stench of death. You've got my feet on the life-path, with Your face shining sun-joy all around.
