Talk the Walk
It is not uncommon to hear references from preachers and within Christian circles to “walk the talk”. It can be stated as, “Practice what you preach,” or “You can talk the talk but can you walk the walk?” All of these appropriately remind us of the need to live like we say we believe; to have consistency between what we say as Christians and how we live as ordinary people.
I am reminded today from the encounter on the road to Emmaus, however, that it is also most important to “talk the walk”.
Now that same day two of them were going to a village called Emmaus, about seven miles from Jerusalem. They were talking with each other about everything that had happened. As they talked and discussed these things with each other, Jesus himself came up and walked along with them…They asked each other, “Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road and opened the Scripture to us?” (Luke 24:13-15, 32).
The deliberate choice to discuss the things of God with others is an open invitation for the risen Christ to show up on the scene. It is His desire to open the Scripture up to us and open us up to the Scripture, but the opportunities for Him to do so are limited if we never spend time in His Word or discussing His Word. So today I encourage you to “talk the walk” and look for the risen Christ to show up in your conversation. In so doing, we will be better equipped to “walk the talk”.
Blessings!

David said it all: I saw God before me for all time. Nothing can shake me; He's right by my side. I'm glad from the inside out, ecstatic; I've pitched my tent in the Land of Hope. I know You'll never dump me in Hades; I'll never even smell the stench of death. You've got my feet on the life-path, with Your face shining sun-joy all around.
